I'm a musician and photographer from Leeds,UK but only the first one is my day job. I survive on food, music, beer, books, movies and photography. SInce getting my first digital camera, I know have a blog for all my digital photos: www.deadinwater.tumblr.com
All photos are mine and on film rather than digital unless stated otherwise. Images are under copyright so please let me know before using any of them.

No great photos today but I thought I’d share my view from the side of the stage in Houston last night, where we played with Ingrid Michaelson at The House Of Blues.
I hung out with Chip the monitor engineer who makes sure everything sounds lovely in my headphones whilst I play every night.
Soooooooooo sorry it takes me a long time to update this blog. Due to the lack of days off and only having film that is usable during bright daylight hours, plus the additional complication of being somewhere long enough to have the photo developed means I tend to only do this at the end of a tour.
If you’d like to be entertained by my digital photos in the meantime, head over to my other blog: http://deadinwater.tumblr.com/
Here’s a video and live recording I made with my friend Ed. It’s me doing an acoustic cover of Ce Ce Penniston’s 90s hit and you can download the mp3 audio file here: soundcloud.com/mattbaxteruk/finally-live-1
It was all done in my friends shed/garage and due to some technical difficulties I could only use one mic but it turned out pretty good!

Jay Leno and one of his beautiful cars. I’ve no idea what it was but it was beautiful. Ever the gentleman, “Uncle” Jay posed for a quick photo with the band before we left.
Danny preparing for his first major TV appearance.
I took this in the dressing rooms for The Tonight Show just before they started filming. As you can see, you can watch the show in your room up to when you perform.

Thanks Darren! I’ve just got a Canon EOS 400D for now (I think it’s called the Digital Rebel XTi in the US!) and only have the kit lens for it. I’m loving it at the moment, but I might have to upgrade pretty soon coz the main reason I wanted to use a digital camera was to take advantage of the higher ISO settings and this one only goes to 1600.
As for the tones, (I assume you’re talking about the photos on my other blog: http://deadinwater.tumblr.com) well I’m using Lightroom to add split toning effects, but because of my colourblindness I don’t really know what I’m doing! I have to ask people what colours they’re seeing and make myself some well-labelled presets like “vintage orange and purple”. I also swing wildly from making my images high contrast or doing the complete opposite and customising tone curves to bring the contrast right down.
Gretsch 1962 Country Gentleman.
The band finally got their hands on this beautiful guitar after telling me for ages how they wanted the “Gretsch sound” on one of their tracks. We got it just in time to use on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and it was really special.
You can see me looking very pleased just after receiving it here: Matt and his Gretsch
A helpful state trooper.
I’m not sure what state we were in when we the tire blew on our trailer, but we felt very grateful when this cop appeared and gave us a hand.
Chris from Scars On 45.
This was during our rehearsal on the set of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in January. Chris had got the logo for the drum skin just in time.
Danny and Stu having a jam.
I took this in the lobby of a beautiful hotel in San Diego. The guys were just about to do a little acoustic set so I got to have a wander and take some photos.
Stu loves the limo.
This is what The Tonight Show sent to pick us up, fully stocked with champagne, vodka and whisky!
In honour of my new digital slr camera (well, second hand really), I have created a second blog!
I’m hoping that putting less restrictions on myself as to what I post on there will make it more fun and lighthearted than this one, but I’ll keep the photos of a reasonable quality and not do a whole lot of reblogging. Anyway, I hope you follow and enjoy: http://deadinwater.tumblr.com/
